About Judith Kaufman Weiner

Judith Kaufman Weiner trained as a painter and sculptor at MOMA, Art Students League, Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts, New York University and New York Institute of Technology. Years of painting were followed by a decade of building ceramic sculpture. The next several decades were spent as an arts administrator, convening and training arts leaders in NYS and lobbying in Albany and Washington DC for government support of the arts. Returning to painting in 2015, the work now builds in sequence and in three dimensional multiples.

About The Work

The work explores multiple concepts of movement, space, time and light, frequently developing and manipulating the spaces between spaces. Light and movement and the push and pull of competing forces are presented as a continuum in sets of multiples. Sometimes infused washes of color are juxtaposed with the markings of the hand on wood panels….rolling light away from darkness and darkness away from light.
